The webinar

In spring 2026 GAMECHANGER360 hosted a free webinar with the Global Institute for Responsible Sport Organizations (GIRSO), an interdisciplinary research and education centre at the University of Minnesota, on modern sport integrity and athlete education. The session was open to sport administrators, compliance and integrity officers, researchers and students.

GIRSO is directed by Dr Lisa A. Kihl of the University of Minnesota's School of Kinesiology, and works at the intersection of sport governance, corruption and organisational responsibility. In 2022 its director received an International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award in the category of safeguarding sport from corruption.

What was discussed

The webinar addressed the themes that run through GAMECHANGER360's work with governing bodies. How approaches to athletes actually happen, beginning with friendship rather than money. Why annual compliance briefings fail to change behaviour, and what education built on lived experience, career-stage pathways and regional language does differently. And what a connected integrity system looks like when education, secure reporting, monitoring and intelligence share one record.

The US context was in the room. In the months before the session, federal prosecutors had charged current and former NBA players in a sports betting conspiracy, the UFC had confirmed a meeting with the FBI over suspicious betting on a fight, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission had withdrawn its proposed rule on event contracts. The World Cup was weeks away.

Why the University of Minnesota

GAMECHANGER360 is expanding into the United States in 2026, and its approach to a new market is the same as its approach to education: begin with the people who study the problem seriously. GIRSO's research on corruption and responsibility in sport organisations is among the most sustained in North America, and its audience of administrators and researchers is the audience that shapes how American sport will build integrity systems.

iGaming Business had reported the planned University of Minnesota session in February 2026, as part of its profile of the company's US plans. The webinar was the first public step in that expansion.
